Eastern Glass Lizard (Kissimmee Prairie)

Though it resembles a snake, this is actually a legless lizard. Unlike snakes, they have eyelids, external ear openings, and the jaw is not flexible like a snake. The name "glass lizard" is supposedly because they can "shatter" their tails in pieces when trying to escape a predator.
