Pipewort (Eriocaulon decangulare), (Kissimmee Prairie Preserve)
Red Milkweed - Asclepias lanceolata (Kissimmee Prairie Preserve)
Rhexia spp. aka Meadow Beauty in Lake Kissimmee area

A perennial with tuberous roots, Meadow Beauties come in a few colors, but I've mainly seen pink to bright magenta like this one. They grow in wetter areas and get from 1-3 feet tall. I planted one in with some Coreopsis (Tickseed) in summer 2005 and it bloomed off and on until fall. It is still there, but droughty conditions have limited its growth. I'm guessing that if we have decent rainfall, it will show up and bloom more this summer (2008). This photo was taken near Lake Kissimmee in central Florida.
Snowy Orchid or Bog Torch (Kissimmee Prairie)
Swamp MIlkweed - Asclepias incarnata (Largo)
Tall Rosinweed, (Silphium spp.), also called Starry Rosinweed. A tall sunflower-like native, rosinweed blooms throughout the summer months in my yard, and in one area of bright shade, it has really performed, blooming through most of the winter as well. This photo is from that area.
TALL ROSINWEED/HALICTID BEE

Tall Rosinweed (Silphium spp.) visited by a Halictid Bee
Rosinweed attracts many of the metallic green bees. This perfect flower was photographed in a sunny area of my yard on an overcast day.
Tropical Sage (Salvia coccinea) -- This plant has seeded itself (with a bit of help from me) all over my back yard "hammock" area -- spread to where I am pulling them out and giving them away. It makes a big splash in the spring, but blooms pretty much all year to some extent. I try to cut them back often which keeps them shorter and bushier and causes them to bloom more.
